Al Rodee, founder of EFT Atlantic, visited our community of Natuashish for two weeks to teach and practice Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) with our counsellors and the people.

I found EFT to be effective and efficient at helping people overcome a wide range of emotional and physical problems. It was my experience that my staff and others who took part in the group workshops or private sessions reported profound shifts in the way they viewed events from the past. Incidents that were traumatic and held on to for many years seemed to vanish as EFT was applied. This left many with a feeling of hope, relief and a new sense of wellbeing.

The technique is easy for anyone to learn and apply for themselves or others which allows us to carry on the work of healing our people that began when Al brought EFT to Natuashish.

Al was clearly here to help make a difference and he worked long hours to accommodate as many people in private sessions as possible while also delivering more than 12 group workshops including Level 1 and Level 2 certification workshops for our counsellors, an addictions clinic, a diabetes clinic, a presentation to our school and a parent and children’s group where more than 30 people attended.

EFT is an important tool to help our people heal and we are working out ways to invite Al Rodee and EFT Atlantic back to Natuashish to continue the good work.

I enthusiastically recommend this program and am happy to entertain any questions you may have about it.

Thoughts of Stone

September 28, 2009

by Bill Thompson

Emotional Freedom Techniques are so simple and easy to use and can have profound effects in minutes. Here is a little story I would like to share with you about how a skeptic of EFT not only became a believer but also removed severe lower back pain.

A few summers ago I was preparing to go outside to set-up my equipment for building a stone wall on my property. Over the years I have built 6 stone projects. Setting up takes a great deal of time and if I could build walls without the labour intensive preparation I would not have become a believer in EFT.

On a beautiful summer morning I was doing some stretches to prepare my muscles for some serious work. As I was bending over to stretch my lower back I heard a slight “pop” sound then intense pain followed. I could not bear weight on my legs nor could I even move a muscle anywhere in my body without pain. All I could do was lay still on a bed.  After about 20 minutes of this I told my wife that I needed to go to the doctor. My discomfort level was a firm 10 out of a scale of 0-10.

My wife, Linda, who is an EFT Practitioner, wanted to try some EFT before I made arrangements to depart for the doctor. At first my pain was such a concern that I was not open to wasting time with EFT. Obviously I was not a believer.

After two rounds of tapping my pain went from a 10 to a 5. After 3 more rounds the pain was completely gone. I was baffled and within minutes after the tapping was outside building my wall. Since then I have become an EFT Practitioner and a firm believer.

Yours in good health,

Bill Thompson

We Are Responsible but it’s not our fault!

When you have a problem where does it come from? When someone is doing something you don’t like what part of you has attracted that experience in to your life? What happens before you have a thought, any thought?

These and many other questions are explored in a new book I read by Joe Vitale called “Zero Limits”.

According to Vitale’ and co-author Dr. lhaleakala Hew Len we have only two ways in which we live our lives. Read More.

  1. Replaying old memories of our own, or those we share with others, in our subconscious, as if these memories are life’s realities
  2. Or living in inspiration which is allowing “the Divine” or “God” or “Yahweh” (or whatever your concept of a higher power is) to take full control of our lives. This concept is simple in its explanation but not so easy to implement.

When we live our lives through inspiration we are aligned with all that is good and life becomes easy for us. When we look outside ourselves for the answers to our problems, fears, illnesses and attitudes our lives just don’t seem to work so well. Most of us live by default and experience inspiration on occasion but mostly experience the replaying of all those old memories.

“Zero Limits” teaches and explains the practice of Ho’oponopono, an ancient Hawaiian healing practice, which allows us to “clean” away the old memories and open ourselves to a state of zero where “God” can inspire us. As I read this book I thought about the limiting beliefs I have and those of my EFT clients. It seems that every day someone brings me a problem from outside themselves….I don’t feel well, I was never good enough for my mother, I couldn’t possibly do that…whatever that might be, It’s genetic, we have had that in our families for generations and the list goes on. We all share something from this short list…ah replaying the old memories again.

So, how do I become inspired? According to Dr. Len, who has pioneered a modern version of Self I-Dentity Through Ho’oponopono (SITH), I look at every problem as a blessing and an opportunity to constantly “clean” my energy making way for “The Divine” to come in to my life to guide and inspire me.

I have been practicing and it seems pretty easy to get the basics so here they are:

  1. Take complete responsibility for the fact that EVERY experience that comes in to your life is there because you created it energetically
  2. Ask your higher power to come in to your heart
  3. State the following 4 affirmations over and over until you feel better:
    I love you
    I’m sorry
    Please forgive me
    Thank you

So what does this all have to do with EFT? EFT is a powerful tool to help erase the old memories that hold us back from living our lives to the fullest. This concept of Ho’oponopono is hard to absorb if we have been living as if all our problems and the problems that present to us from the rest of the world are somehow created outside ourselves. Don’t we feel guilty enough? Do we need any more shame? Now I am responsible for all the problems in the world and those of my acquaintances and all the news stories and the war in Iraq and the grief of the family who just lost a loved one in a car accident? EFT helps us get to the realization that just because we are attracting this energy into our lives it doesn’t mean we are at fault or deserve judgement in some way. We are just replaying shared memories from our past. This is a very empowering realization when the light bulb comes on and we finally get it. EFT helps us get there.

If the thought enters your head you have created it and therefore you are responsible for it but it’s not your fault. In fact, you have been given a blessing and an opportunity to clean, clean, and clean some more allowing for inspiration to replace the old memories and attitudes. As Wayne Dyer says; “If you change the way you look at things the things you look at will change”. EFT helps reframe old habits and attitudes allowing for the next step which I am learning is Ho’oponopono.

“I love you, I’m sorry, Please forgive me, Thank you”

New Initiatives:

September 25, 2009

Bill is working on two major initiatives on behalf of EFT Atlantic. On September 22nd he presented to St Mary’s student services department with the idea of introducing EFT for test anxiety and for students on academic probation. There were 9 people present and Bill demonstrated how EFT works on cravings. People quickly lost their desire for chocolate bars, chips and other confectionaries. It was a very promising meeting and we anticipate a positive outcome.

His other pet project is working with sporting teams to enhance performance. He has been in touch with sport Nova Scotia and all the University and semi pro team coaches to generate interest in using EFT for improving team stats. He has developed a package and presentation that impressively demonstrates how EFT can significantly improve outcomes for any sporting venture. I am really pleased to watch Bill work as our styles complement each other very well.

Improve your golf game anyone? We guarantee it!

As for me; I continue to work with Native communities to introduce EFT to as many people as possible. This is one of my passions and as evidenced by the reference letter we received from Natuashish the other day  it seems we will be well received.

I am in the process of developing my first product to sell from the Internet. This will be a series of 21 video, audio and text affirmations using EFT to start your day on a positive note. I will be launching this product in early October. Proceeds from this initiative will help fund other projects that bring EFT to those who most need it so I trust you will be generous when the launch is announced. I am collaborating with Paul Widdershoven  who has expertise in promoting EFT practitioners through the Internet and we are very excited about the potential for this first launch.

Tuesday Nights have been wonderful! If you haven’t yet come out to our Tuesday night sessions please make the effort. Our group is growing and we are regularly clearing up long held traumas and problems for people. In some cases the stories are held in confidence and we work on the emotion without anyone sharing their story. In other cases the story flows comfortably and we tap as a group and share the tears and laughter and everyone feels the release when it happens. We meet from 7-9:30 every Tuesday night.

Leslie Hauck practices Psycho Synthesis

September 25, 2009

Leslie Hauck practices Psycho Synthesis and has taken my EFT Level 1 training. She has been very enthusiastic about EFT and has incorporated it in to her practice. Here are some quick reports on several cases. The letters at the beginning refer to initials of someone’s name, not their real names of course.

CJ: Approx. ½ hour

Fear of cats; aspect: actually fear of all animals since childhood – baby chicks, rabbits, etc. Zero! [Note: we use a scale of 0-10 when identifying the intensity of any emotional feelings. 0= no excess emotion 10= very painful]

CC: Approx. 1 hour

Painful relationship with mother who didn’t pay attention to her, neglected her; aspect: “I always felt as if my parents left me at the bus station.”  Huge emoting, then hysterical laughter.  Zero!

KA: Approx. 6 hours

Alcohol addiction

MF: .5.5 hours

Fear of losing custody of son in court sessions with ex-‘husband’ [not legally married] 10/1-2/0;

Guilt about dad being abused by husband, and all her mom has witnessed:   “Even though my eyes weren’t open, all is well now.”

CV: Approx.4 hours

Auto accident; fear of many animals running out in front of her; seeing self spinning around and around in the car.  Both zeros.   Contacted me 2 weeks later and reported excellent staying power of the work; she tapped on her first day at work, and a bit around driving again.

SW: Approx. 1 hour

I thought of S as a potential subject because the last time I saw her she was overwhelmed with too much work.  When I asked her what ‘problem’ she wanted to work on, I was surprised to hear her say her mother.  She filled me in on the brief background of her mother’s last years and death.  She began to get teary as she told me she had a lot of guilt about not granting her mother’s request to leave her life – friends, job, house, pets –  and go back home to take care of her during those final years.

We began to construct a phrase; out loud, I launched some tentative wordings.  “Even though I have guilt over my mother’s situation, I’m ok.”  Checking that out with S. she indicated that sounded pretty good, and we stated the phrase together.  However, she said, “Even though I have doubt over my…”  Whoops.  We chuckled, and wondered why that word got inserted instead.  Oh, well, carry on.  We started up again.  “Even though I have doubt…”  Whoa.  There’s that word again!  Hmmm, we said somewhat simultaneously, this is intriguing!

I suggested maybe she had doubt that this technique would work.  No, she didn’t think that was it, but she couldn’t get any idea about what the doubt referred to, or meant.

We began again.  Yet again, the word came out of her mouth as a substitute for ‘guilt’.  We smiled the knowingness that this was very significant.  However, without any ideas coming, we decided to just carry on.  She managed this time to get through the phrase with the word guilt, but then suddenly the insight was there.  With great emotion she said, “I’m afraid that if I get rid of the guilt, I’ll get rid of my mother.”

Ok, she was on to a really big aspect of this problem: she was afraid of having more guilt over getting rid of the guilt!  We chuckled at that, but were both stunned and thrilled with this cracking open of her deeper feelings.  This is one of the wonderful gifts of this energy work: as soon as the thought field begins to flow even a little bit more smoothly, then the submerged insights can literally shoot out into conscious awareness.

We constructed the following phrase and it felt so perfect to S. that we worked with it with no corrections taking her from “6″ to “3 or 4″, to a “1″, then to zero: “Even though I may release my guilt around my mother’s situation, she will remain alive in my heart forever.”

In bringing the session to a close, we had a big hug of shared relief, then wonder at the beauty of EFT, the beauty of life, the beauty of the Universe.  We raised our arms to the sky and thanked our mothers and others who had been guiding us through the amazing unfoldment that misty evening.  6/3-4/1/0

JB: 1 hour

Problem: medium medical trauma, staunching spurting blood, large loss of blood of father:

“Even though I still have this anxiety about Dad’s incident, everyone’s ok.”  “Even though I felt I was in a stupor and was clumsy, I’m OK.”   6/3-4/2/0

RH: 15 minutes

Terrible fear of cockroaches, but no other insects.  Subject experienced feeling “hair standing on end, forehead sweating, arms tingling” as part of tuning in to the anxiety. Zero

Here is a quote from an email that Leslie sent me just before I asked her for these stories:

“Hello Al, Just a quick note to tell you that I’ve been practicing EFT and having lovely results.  During one session my old friend began to laugh hysterically and I couldn’t help doing same! Great! I’m definitely a huge convert!, Leslie”

Another day at the Library:

September 25, 2009

Stop Smoking the easy way with EFT. Eleven people joined Bill, Linda and I at the Alderney Gate library on September 24th to learn EFT to stop smoking. The group was open and enthusiastic. We started out talking about the theory and practice of EFT and moved in to where the tapping points are. We then watched my favourite video  (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3ln9haNsQg&feature=player_embedded) called Lynn’s Blood Fatigue which offers direct evidence that EFT effects the body physically and very quickly verified by using dark field microscopy.

Finally we started tapping. I had everyone pull out a cigarette and taste and smell it with the idea that their craving would increase. The cravings ranged from 0(2 people), 2(1), 5(3), 6(1), 7(2) and 8(2 people). “Even though I really want to quit smoking I deeply and completely love and accept myself”. Several rounds of EFT later it was clear that we were having limited success, which is really unusual. A couple people wanted to smoke more (up to 9 and 10) by the end of the 4th round. We were having fun and lots of laughter but I was beginning to think there were toxins in the room. We turned off a flickering fluorescent light and asked people to move from theatre style seating to a circle. Finally, I had Bill try his magic and then I did a round asking everyone to shout as loud as they felt comfortable, using as much emphasis as possible. We also included some affirmations from Carol Look’s (EFT Master and prolific contributor to the practice) stop smoking DVD’s.

I must admit we weren’t as successful as usual but 2 people completely lost their craving to smoke and 5 others had their cravings reduce. We all had fun and everyone admitted the evidence of success so it was a positive experience. Everyone left with handouts to take home so they could practice and continue the work.

Watch for future library presentations and please join us. You never know what’s going to happen.

Natuashish is a gift:

September 25, 2009

For two weeks in August I was honored to introduce to and practice EFT with the Innu of Natuashish, formerly Davis Inlet, Newfoundland/Labrador. The community is only seven years old and houses more than 700 people. It was a profound experience for me as I started the work with 6 counselors from the Healing Lodge and ended up having worked with over 100 individuals and documented more than 300 specific incidents as emotionally and energetically released.

Natuashish, like many Aboriginal communities, has had a troubled history of being disempowered by governments and people in power who have no idea what the people really need. The results have been high incidents of suicide, addictions, family violence, guilt and shame.

Despite all this trauma, the spirit of the people shines through in their laughter, openness to learn new things and care for each other. View Video The children are absolutely beautiful. We spent an afternoon working together, the children, their parents and I, releasing stress, anxiety and symptoms of fetal alcohol syndrome. In another workshop I presented to 30 + teachers and support staff at the school. During one demonstration I worked with 10 volunteers who had some form of pain and within an hour had materially relieved the pain for 8 out of 10 of them (not to mention one guy in the audience who had not originally volunteered). In another smaller workshop 5 women worked on food cravings. Two of them were “addicted to” salt and vinegar chips, two to chocolate bars and one to baked goods. All 5 of them started their cravings at between 8-10 on a scale of 0-10 and all 5 of them reduced their cravings to 1 or 0 within 5 rounds of EFT. The next day I saw two of them and both still had no desire for their craved food.

Perhaps the two most moving experiences for me while I was there were the private sessions and the level 1 and Level 2 trainings I did with the counselors of the Healing Lodge. I was sad to run out of hours to work directly with individuals as every chance I had, people were coming to work on very personal and traumatic issues. We worked on family abuse, grief, alcoholism, gas sniffing, abandonment, anger management, physical “dis-ease” and a host of other issues.

My core 6 counselors worked with me every day to earn their L1 and L2 certificates. They brought people for private appointments and worked hard to learn EFT well enough to be able to offer the technique to their current and future clients. They cleared up their own issues, as we all must do, and were very open to sharing their stories with me and their colleagues. Their first language is Innu and, at times, we worked in Innu as they practiced with each other.

The plan is to go back as soon as possible to work with people from the community who have been imprisoned in Goose Bay, to present to the Innu school board and offer some more private sessions. I am blessed to have met these people and thank Ruben Pillay, the director of the Healing Lodge in Natuashish for having the foresight to invite me to work with them.

Welcome to the world of EFT Atlantic

September 24, 2009

Emotional Freedom Techniques offer a new effective and efficient path to Emotional and Physical Health.

My name is Al Rodee I own EFT Atlantic. To learn more about EFT please visit the following websites: www.eftatlantic.com

and http://www.emofree.com/a/?2167

I am not a doctor, professional therapist, psychologist or counselor. In fact, for 27 years before I became involved with the Emotional Freedom Techniques I was in sales and marketing. To make a long story short, I discovered EFT, learned how to apply it to myself and others and had such profoundly positive effects from it I decided to teach, promote and practice EFT with anyone and everyone.

What are The Emotional Freedom Techniques? Simply stated, EFT is psychological acupuncture without the needles.

Five thousand years ago the Chinese discovered energy channels running through our body. These channels are called meridians. The points on our skin where the meridians come close to the surface are used by acupuncturists to insert needles for relief of pain and addictive behaviors. With EFT we tap on them.

When we experience a negative emotion, that emotion is physically implanted in one of those meridians and causes a disruption in the flow of energy along that meridian. By focusing on the specific emotion OR the physical discomfort associated with the emotion and tapping on the meridians with our fingers we instantly and permanently release the negative emotion. It’s that simple and anyone can do it.

What does EFT work on? EFT founder Gary Craig says “Try it on everything”! EFT is a relaxation technique so you can use it to feel Happy, Relaxed, Free of Fear, Calm, Centered, Well-Rested etc etc… and in my experience EFT works on physical problems as well! The medical profession agrees that physical illness can be caused by or exacerbated by emotional stress. I now work with people who are releasing MS, Cancer symptoms, Chronic Pain, Migraines, Fibromyalgia, Addictions, Learning disorders, Eating disorders, Diabetes and many other stressors from their system. As Gary says

“Try it on everything”.

Who do we work with?

Anyone who feels a need for improved emotional or physical health and well being can benefit from EFT.

Our focus at EFT Atlantic is to introduce and advocate for EFT to as many people as possible.

Our main goal is to train groups of people to practice EFT with the hope that they will pass their skills and knowledge on to others. Individual sessions are welcomed also.

EFT Training is especially suited for, but not limited to, groups such as: Nurses (psychiatric, palliative care, post operative) PhysiotherapistsSports teams • Native communities (elders, case workers, band leaders) Senior citizens (communities, clubs, long term care facilities) Schools (counselors, teachers, student groups) Police (job related stress, anger management, enhancing crowd control) Military (post traumatic stress disorder, family stress related issues, addictions) Prisons (working with prisoners for low self esteem, anger management, suicidal tendencies, sexual dysfunctions, addictions and with personnel for stress related issues and anger management) Community clinics (addiction services, obesity, chronic poor health) Associations (Cancer, Arthritis, MS, Crohns and Colitis) Business (businesses benefit from using EFT to enhance sales or creative performance, improve interpersonal relationships between employees, create more productive meetings, have a happier day)

“Try it on everything”.

Many of our clients have had issues with depression, anxiety disorders, migraine headaches or chronic pain. Some have tried medications, surgery or other traditional therapies with little long-lasting relief.

We work with individuals and groups teaching the Emotional Freedom Techniques so they can work on their own issues or those of their clients, friends and family.

Perhaps you, or someone you know, suffer one or more of these issues:

Panic Attacks; Alcoholism; Smoking or other addictions; Low Self Esteem; Anorexia; Bulimia; Obesity; Anger; Phobias; Fear; Cancer Symptoms; Multiple Sclerosis; Arthritis; ADD; ADHD; Dyslexia; Fibromyalgia; Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

Have you managed issues for years by using medications that take the edge off but present undesirable side effects? Have you tried everything to find peace from emotional or physical illness and nothing seems to help?

EFT often works where other methods fail. This is why many people come to us as a last resort and then wish they had come to us at the first sign of trouble.

Services:

Phone Sessions: There is no need to leave the comfort and security your home; no need to get in the car and drive to our office as EFT is easily and effectively practiced over the telephone or the internet.

Private Sessions: Our training centre is comfortable and full of good energy. Working with one of our coaches on a one-on-one basis can help you uncover specific issues that may be trapped by your subconscious.

Small Groups: Facilitated by an EFT Atlantic coach our small groups typically meet once a week. Groups running now include weight loss, stop smoking and addictions. All group sessions are $10/week and represent a great way to learn EFT and get the benefits of it for very little cost. If you and 5 of your friends would like us to set up a group for your issue we will be happy to accommodate you.

Workshops: The first Saturday of every month is committed to teaching the basics of EFT. Level one training is designed by Gary Craig and facilitated by Al Rodee.

Level two training will be announced.

Public Speaking: Our accomplished coaches and EFT practitioners are available by request to speak to your group, business events and associations.

Sports Performance Enhancement: We guarantee we can improve your golf score, performance on the ice, basketball game, or any other sporting venue.

Business: The ways that EFT can benefit your business are only limited by your imagination. Sales performance, human resources issues, negotiations, presentation anxiety and staff relationships come quickly to mind. We can even help you make your client more open to your sales proposals or start your company retreat off on the right foot.

So, that’s my story for now. What I would like to know from you is what kinds of issues, pains, physical or emotional traumas you have. I will use this forum to try to help as many as possible, talk about the issues and offer strategies that might help.

I look forward to your posts.
